We were staying in a retreat house near Liverpool a few years ago, and I was getting ready to walk over to the beach. The Irish guest mistress told me--I thought--that when it was clear, you could see whales.  "They come up here?" I said. There was a brief pause, and then she laughed and said, "No, Wales...the country!"
And sure enough...!
