Well, I suspect we know the answer if we recall our school days. There were 
students who knew the material, contributed in class and could ace any multiple 
choice test, but couldn't type fast enough to get a paper out. Then there were 
those who knew squat but could do a beautiful-looking paper (or better -- afford 
one of those many typists around the university who would type your paper for a 
fee.

Now think of the profs who counted neatness over knowledge -- and you have your 
answer.

Of course, you need computer skills to get into college in the first place 
nowadays -- from the online applications to the online essays to the online 
financial aid form.

No computer skills? No college.

(Vocational type community two year colleges and the proprietary for profit 
school excepted)
