I tell Everett this is the first time living on the first floor is a blessing. Only as a joke. History exhibits no lightning-strike fires in the City of Saline. We are getting ready for El Neenyo (phonetically), though. Currently, I'm proofreading our Agency's Floodplain Management Plan for County Board adoption soon (link to be provided when it's available), and golly, if we ain't looking for some fun if 1995 and/or 1998 return. (1995, the entire Monterey Peninsula was rendered an island, and the entire town of Pajaro was under water near Watsonville, and 1998 put much of Carmel Valley out to sea.) We could be really ready, if money was available. Money? Available? Yeah, RIGHT!

In 1950, my husband was eleven years old, and he moved from Kansas to
Long Beach with his mother. He was outdoors playing with other kids
approximately his age, when it happened to thunder. To the Kansas kid,
this was no big deal. His playmates thought that there was an A-Bomb.
In eleven years or so, these California kids had never heard thunder.
