One evening at Symphony Hall, an elderly lady in furs whacked the young man
sitting in front of her (one of those self-appointed commentators) with her
program. Hard, or as hard as she could. Humiliated in front of his date, he
summoned the manager.

"You probably deserved it," he said.

I thought he was going to cry.
