The fact that we would never do such a thing is, I think, one reason that
this dream is so powerful and so common among a lot of my friends.

I have this dream that I am late for a Reserves drill, and often cannot
find the place, and then realize I am not in uniform.  As I gradually wake
up, it finally comes to me that I not only do not have to make that
formation, I have not been in uniform for a long time.  Then I think, "OMG,
I'm SOOO glad I'm not in the Army!"
