[Magdalen] Shock in Situ.

No! As a matter of fact, that was the start of the split--the fact that the
bishop (+Hallock's successor, whose name I don't recall, but who a lot of
people don't speak very nicely about) decided that after Fr. Shaw's wife
left *him* (not the other way round, she ran off with the UW hockey coach)
and he divorced her on that account, he was no longer a fit person to be at
St. Andrew's. I don't know if it was the guy after him or the one I met
*was* the guy after him that was the major source of all the problems, and
I don't even know what all the trouble was, because the assistant, who I
met on my last visit there and who I talked to for some time, wouldn't tell
me (of course), and I didn't know anyone to ask. All the assistant told me
was that there had been an enormous split and a lot of trouble but by the
grace of God it had been worked out and things were okay, but she flinched
visibly when I mentioned the guy's name (which, oddly, I have now
forgotten.....Peter something, I think) In any case, when I met him, he
gave me the creeps and the late ex said the same.

I lost track of Fr. Shaw but I heard that he had remarried and that he and
his new wife were flipping houses. I don't know if he was doing that as a
"tentmaker" or what, but I also heard rumors that he had left the
priesthood. That would be a damn shame if true. He was a good priest.
