This bishop was much beloved.  He had been parish priest of TEC
in Platteville, Wisconsin before being elected bishop.  He was  therefore
a personal friend of my best friend in medical school who was from

The death of his only son, Peter, was a terrible blow to him.
 
In any case, he had the most stunning cope and mitre I'd ever seen,
all in shades of gold, red, and orange.  Combined with his 6'3"  frame,
