I would agree with you, generally, on the "stand up" business, but I had  
this
happen to me once at +Mary McLeod's parish in Charleston, WV while
she was still a parish priest, along with her husband.  They had such  a
low-key way of doing the introductions of visitors during the Liturgy  that
it was quite disarming and not at all awkward.
