On a tangent -
 
Though more similar to Norwegian than not, still, my relatives in  Norway
referred to Danish as Norwegian spoken with a mouth full of marbles.
 
OTOH, our Swedish exchange student referred to Swedish as
Norwegian, but "a little happier".  I think by that he meant more of  that
characteristic Scandinavian lilt in Swedish than Norwegian.  
 
I don't know, though.  My Norwegian relatives had a really  bouncy
accent which also flavors the Upper Midwest USA dialect to this  day.
