I was subdeacon, and during
ablutions he asked what he needs to do. I told him to consume the remaining
Precious Blood and receive the wine and water over his fingertips and then
he'd be dismissed. :) He obeyed.>>>>
Many years ago just as the Diocese of Minnesota was abandoning its
traditional Morning Prayer worship orientation, I was thurifer, and as it
turned out a sort of MC, of a priestly ordination in Saint Paul.
The then +Anderson was flabbergasted by the Solemn Mass format
chosen by the ordinand, and the bishop had to be pushed and pulled
through every inch of the liturgy. This was obviously not his tradition.
I can still remember his blank expression upon being presented with
the thurible with raised lid and red-hot coals at the introital
incensation.
My semiwhispered terse instruction: put four spoons (the ordinand
wanted heavy incense) of incense on the coals, Good Sir!
Somehow we got through with the ordination and Mass without everyone
knowing what thin ice upon which we were scatting in the sanctuary.
David Strang.
