This piece was permanently ruined for me by the first several
experiences I had hearing it in concerts, with more of a shrieking
than singing sound on the climactic section. Oh, well. Maybe listening
to King's College Choir will rehab it for me.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

It is true that the sopranos either make the anthem or ruin it. It takes
stratospheric laser beam tonality without vibrato to pull it off.

Luckily for me, I first heard this at an annual concert of the National
Lutheran Choir, headquartered in Minneapolis (of course). This is
performed in several locales, but mostly in the RC Basilica of Saint Mary,
Minneapolis. The Lutheran choir was right on the money.
