Anderson ran when Regan was elected and Perot ran when Clinton was elected.
(And Regan challenged Gerald Ford the sitting appointed VP turned Prez when Ford secured the nomination and then Carter was elected...) Seems like it's been "always something" for the Democrats that *won* in my voting lifetime. I voted for both Anderson and Perot hoping at those times to affirm 3rd party candidacies. I'm wiser than that now.
