I used a bag of small frozen shrimp from the north Atlantic the other
day. I won't and don't ever buy shrimp from Thailand, China, or similar.

Incidentally, the shrimp were used in an oldy but goody dip recipe.
Blend together a block of cream cheese, a small container of sour
cream, and a hearty glop of mayo (I did use the 1/2 fat Hellmann's).
Put much of it in a large pie dish or my nice Corning Wear quiche dish,
so 9 or 10" across. Spread the thawed, patted-dry shrimp overr the
mixture, then use the balance of the mixture on top of the shrimp. Most
of a jar of seafood sauce over that. Finish with a _very_ generous
layer of grated sharp cheddar. I took it along to the recent Marions
retreat and it was a huge hit, way above my expectations. I serrved
with Tostito's scoops and bite size things, not chips or thin things --
they'll break. I never said this is low cal.
