Harkening back to the thought that if Luther had been an Italian priest
the
Reformation, as we know it, might have never happened.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I have made a couple of forays into what was East Germany, which
territory was unavailable until the unification of Germany in the 1990's
Unintentionally, my itinerary turned out to be playing hop-scotch
with JS Bach and Martin Luther sites.

The highlight of that aspect was the trip back down the autobahn
from Erfurt, where I had seen Luther's monastic cell and the high altar
of the Erfurt Cathedral where Luther had been priested in the RC Church.

It was a typical German day in the early autumn, with fog and misty rain.
Suddenly the skies parted, and the sun shown brightly, highlighting the
Wartburg Castle ahead and to the right. This is where Luther was "kept"
and wrote the German Bible translation.

I took it as a sign and pulled off the autobahn to tour the Castle.
