We were living on Chestnut St.
Had a gas stove, so we did lots of cooking for neighbors who’d converted to
electric.
I made tons of bread, too, but not much of a rise due to no heat. The cat
slept with us under the bedclothes, unusual for him.
We were worried about friends who were older, but out walking one day ran
into Lawrence Channing walking down Charles St. brandishing an old pair of
ski poles.
IIRC Ash Wednesday fell during that week. Brought a couple of people home
from the Advent for vegetarian lasagna.
I remember it as a magical time, but we were young and hardy then.
