I have had a Real ID driver's license for 6 years now.  When I got the
first one in 2014, there was no additional charge above the standard West
Virginia DL fee.  Last year, however, I think it was an extra $10.   I also
have a passport good until 15 Mar 2023.

I miss the days when I could hop on the bus through the Detroit-Windsor
tunnel for 25¢ each way to go for lunch in Windsor.
When going into Canada, I was asked "Where are you going?"  [To lunch, of
course]
Coming back, I was asked "Where were you born?"  My answer of "Fort Wayne,
Indiana"  got me back in the State of Michigan.
